Sibling Rivalry

Sibling rivalry is the most feared concept in all of parenthood. It is hard to be excited about a new arrival when thoughts of tantrums and a lifetime of squabbles come to mind. A bit of jealousy is to be expected with a new arrival, but does not need to remain the rule in a household. There are simple ways to help your older child adjust to his new role in the house that foster affection and enjoyment for everyone.

It is feared throughout the world. Sibling rivalry is one of the most worrisome aspects of parenthood, and in many cases there is simply no way to prevent it. Almost all children will go through a spell of jealousy over the arrival of a new sibling, but savvy parents are able to help guide their children through this world of complex emotions quickly and carefully.

Honor the Older Child
The toddler of the household undergoes a huge transformation in a matter of moments. He has spent his entire life being adored as the delightful baby of the household, only to suddenly find himself playing second fiddle to a new baby that just lays there. This can be very confusing and overwhelming for little ones.

For this very reason, parents must be responsible for making Big Brother the most important person in the house. Sure there is a new baby, but Big Brother is the one that baby will look to for guidance. Only Big Brothers are old enough to play games and sing songs.

Perhaps parents can encourage this creativity by providing special gifts. Chef aprons and hats are perfect for playing in the kitchen set that little babies aren't old enough for. My First Piano can encourage creativity while keeping older brothers distracted from all the baby gawking the new arrival is receiving. Small items such as baby jewelry from sites such as SpiffyBaby.com can make this transformation more settling, especially if the older child receives the coveted "Big Sis" bracelet.

Mama's Big Helper
In addition to her new role as Big Sister, the older child takes on the role as Mama's Helper. Only Big Sister is knowledgeable enough to know how to hand mom the right spoon or diaper. Everyone loves to be needed, and young children are no different. Of course, their help can be exasperating at times, but try to remember the sense of accomplishment your little one feels every time she hands you the fifth pair of socks or a used bottle.

One of the most meaningful times to help with a new baby is bedtime. Bedtime routines generally entail a bath, some soothing time, and a snack. Let your toddler help with bath time. Perhaps he can show the baby how to play with boats or even wield a washcloth. High quality bath-time products such as Noodle and Boo skin care from SpiffyBaby.com are perfect for splashing in the tub with both siblings. Once all babies are snug in their pajamas, let Big Brother read his favorite story to his little sister.

Encourage the older child to find ways to entertain the baby. Many toddlers will appreciate the rapt attention for their endless songs and dances. Find ways to work these into the evening routine for fun and soothing family togetherness. Allowing an older child to be himself as he adjusts to his new role will go a long way in finding success. A few rough patches are to be expected, but over time, the planning and careful attention of parents should smooth the path considerably.

Cardboard Boxes With Handles - Are They Really Worth It?

Generally people require boxes of a certain color, size or shape. However in some special cases you may require the aid of a handle. Cardboard boxes with handles are produced for many reasons, yet you are probably sitting their scratching your head wanting to know what a few of those reasons are.

It may be obvious but the main reason a handle is needed in some boxes is to make it easier for you to carry the items! It wouldn't be pleasant walking around with a big box in your hands or lumped on your shoulder for a long period of time.

A lot of food products may be carried around in cardboard boxes with handles. An example is those chocolate fund raiser events which you your self may have participated at one stage in your life. Having the handle sure makes it easier going around door to door doesn't it!

Another example are valentine boxes which also can have handles. The handles make it easier to hold, carry and give the box a more elegant look. It wouldn't be much of a surprise if the box wasn't closed in some way, and having a lid would be a nuisance wouldn't it?

There are many other types of boxes that have handles such as corrugated cardboard boxes and some specialty boxes mainly used for businesses such as noodle boxes.

When looking to buy some cardboard boxes with handles, be sure to take note of the material of the handle. Some boxes have the handle made from cardboard as a part of the rest of the box, while other boxes clearly have a different material such as plastic.

Be sure to give the box a good look over, as you want a box strong enough so that the handle doesn't break off, yet you want a handle that's durable at the same time.

When ordering online as you cant see the box with your own eyes, be sure to buy from a repeatable company such as Amazon. They have many quality boxes that come with handles, so you can take control of your box and not let the box become a hassle - Because after all, boxes are designed to make life easier for you!

tinyurl.com "A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop" is a remake of the 1985 directorial debut of Joel and Ethan Coen, "Blood Simple." Zhang Yimou ("Red Sorghum," "To Live," "Hero," "House of Flying Daggers"), one of the most eminent directors of the "Fifth Generation," transposes the Coen Brother's celebrated mix of dark humor and riveting suspense to a noodle shop in western China. This black comedy thriller is an exposé of how intense desires can consume humanity, and the irony that life never submits to our calculation. Wang is a gloomy and cunning noodle shop owner in a desert town in China. Feeling neglected, Wang's wife secretly goes out with his employee, Li. A timid man, Li reluctantly keeps the gun the landlady bought for 'killing her husband later'. However, not a single move they make escapes the boss's notice, and he decides to bribe patrol officer Zhang to kill the illicit couple. It looks like a perfect plan: the affair will come to a cruel but satisfying end... or so he thinks, but the equally wicked Zhang has an agenda of his own that will lead to even more violence

Gather The Family For a "Bootiful" Halloween Family Dinner!

They say that by eating at least one meal a day together is critical to a family's success! By doing this, children are less likely to get into serious trouble that beset a lot of families today. Here is a way to make a meal time a lot of fun and one that your kids will be talking about long after Halloween is done!

Here is a recipe for "Dinner in a Pumpkin" that was given to me by one of my favorite aunt's. It has become a family tradition in our home. I have suggested a whole menu and you can adapt it to fit your family's needs. This is our main meal before we start on our house to house adventure for the evening on Halloween!

Back to planning the menu:

Dinner in a Pumpkin, Monster Mash Veggie Dip, Eyeball Appetizers, Pumpkin Sh sped Gelatin Fruit Salad, Scarecrow Cornbread, and Pumpkin Nut Bars.

Dinner in A Pumpkin

1 small pumpkin about 10" across and clean out the seeds

Combine the following on the stove: 2lbs. hamburger, 1 cup chopped onion and 1 chopped green pepper. Drain the grease once it's done Add 1-2 cups cooked rice, 1 1/2 t. salt, 2t. ground oregano, 1t. pepper, 2 cloves garlic, minced, 1/3 cup green stuffed olives, 1 can tomato soup, 3 eggs, beaten, and more salt and pepper. Clean out the pumpkin and put the ingredients inside the pumpkin. Put the pumpkin lid back on the pumpkin. Place pumpkin on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve dinner from the pumpkin; and serve cooked pumpkin too! "Frightfully good!"

Pumpkin Shaped Orange Gelatin Fruit Salad

Dissolve a 6 oz. package of orange gelatin dessert, mix in 2 c. boiling water. Add 2 cups of Ginger Ale. You can add a variety of fruit such as mandarin oranges, grated carrots, bananas, fruit cocktail, marshmallows, etc...or just chill it without fruit. Put it in a 1 quart deep bowl and chill it until very firm. Unmold on a plate and decorate with whipped cream eyes, nose, mouth, collar, and hat. Get creative and can use other edible fruit or candies to decorate with. Add long green gumdrop stem. "Bootiful"!

Eyeball Appetizers

Put eggs in a pan of water and boil until done. Once they are cooled, peel and prepare like deviled eggs. Take a small container of red icing and pipe lines through it like veins in an eye. Add a slice of black olive in the middle to give the effect of an eyeball. "Devilish"!

Witches Brew

Apple juice, 1 liter of lemon/lime carbonated drink. Mix the two together and then add some dry ice right before serving time. Watch the fog appear! "Bewitching"!

Monster Mash Veggie Dip

1 8 oz cream cheese 1 T. beef bouillon dissolved in milk 1 green onion, chopped

Mix these ingredients together and add milk to desired consistency and add a little orange food coloring. You can also throw in some chopped olive and chopped celery. Serve with a variety of veggies! "Scary good"!

Scarecrow Cornbread

3 eggs 1 1/2 t. milk 1 1/2 cube butter, melted 3 cups Biscuit Mix 4 heaping T. Cornmeal 1 t. baking powder 1 1/2 cup sugar Orange Food coloring

Beat eggs. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Put into a well greased 11 x 14" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let it cool and cut into squares. Serve with honey butter (tinted green)! It's a scream!

Pumpkin Nut Bars (another family favorite)

1/2 c. shortening 1t. cinnamon 1/2 c. brown sugar

1/4 t. nutmeg & ginger 1 cup flour

2/3 cup pumpkin 1/2 t. soda 2 eggs 1/2 t. baking powder 1 t. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix all ingredients well together. Bake in a 9 x 13" pan at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Frost with powdered sugar, margarine, and orange juice. Sprinkle black and orange sprinkles on top! "Mummy Yummy"!

So try your hand at this fun Halloween family dinner. Surprise your family with a new tradition and see if they don't request this dinner again next year. Plan some fun games at the dinner table or come up with some Halloween jokes to share. Prepare your kiddos for the night's festivities by first filling their tummies with lots of these yummies!

Don't forget to make your table look appetizing with some Halloween decor along with your festive food. Your family will be glad you took the time to celebrate a Happy Halloween with them!

Cooking - A Skill That Can Last You a Lifetime

Cooking is obviously a skill that you can use during any period of your life. However, what many people do not realize is why they would want to learn how to cook. I do not mean that everyone in the world knows how to cook, but for the most part in my experiences in a marriage it is typically only one member that knows how to cook properly. However, you will want to know the reasons why both members know how to do this task and why they should learn how to do this.

The first reason why everyone in a home will want to know how to do this important skill is if one member gets sick then you will not have to worry about how the food is going to be made. I know in my house if I get sick then the food will consist mainly of whatever freezer meals can be prepared without much in the way of preparation involved. This for obvious reasons is not the best type of food to be eating for any extended period of time because for many of our kids that we have they will get sick of the same food all the time.

The second reason that everyone should know how to cook is because there is no guarantee that the person that does the cooking for you all the time will be around all the time because they might go on vacation, business trips, or even work at various times in their life time. So when they are not around you are going to need to know how to cook your own food so that you can eat.

Grocery Delivery is Hitting Hard!

Imagine this scene: it's Superbowl Sunday, you and your friends are all at your house watching the game. The beer is flowing, the chips are going down.

Then halftime comes, and you notice something terrible: you're out of dip! To make matters worse, you notice that you're also running low on soda (If you're in the Atlanta area, you know which brand I speak of, and you know this is bad).

You don't really have many options at this point, considering all the guys in the room have had at least three beers. Sure, your wives and girlfriends are there - and they're sober - but you don't want to have to ask them to run errands for you, especially since they're letting the guys get together like this.

So what do you do?

Thankfully, there's a little thing called grocery delivery that's starting to get bigger in the Atlanta area, especially Gwinnett County.

It's easy: find the website or grocery delivery store of your choice, pick out the items you need, and check out. Note: not all grocery delivery services will provide you with immediate service, but for the right price/tip, you're sure to find what you're looking for.

You'd be surprised: even in this crazy metro area called Atlanta, there aren't hundreds of companies doing grocery delivery and excelling at it. It's sort of still an "open market", in my opinion. My advice when it comes to picking out which service to use is to see which ones have been there the longest and which ones are certified by the Better Business Bureau; that can mean a lot!

Give them a call and pay close attention to how they treat you on the phone: are they curteous? Do they make you feel like you're important?

These are things that matter when you're establishing a working relationship with a new company.

Good luck, Atlanta!

Getting the Most of Out Beer and Other Drink Dispensers

Keeping your hot drinks from becoming luke warm and keeping your cold ones cold is kind of tricky. A good idea would be to get a beverage dispenser which can deal with hot or cold situations. Not only will you find that you've made a great decision by getting one of these, you'll discover all sorts of benefits too. You will notice that you'll be able to save time on setting up your event as well as effort when you have a beverage dispenser. You don't want to be constantly preparing something like coffee with a small coffee maker during your big event. Every time some one wants a fresh cup of coffee, you'll have to do this and it really becomes tiring.

By owning your own coffee dispenser, you'll always have an enjoyable cup of coffee ready to go because you only have to grind your beans a few times a week.

It will be so much easier to entertain your guests when you have a beverage dispenser operating at a party of event. If you like hosting a sports viewing event at your house, you'll find having a beer dispenser to be a real benefit. You'll avoid having to run back and forth between your living room and kitchen fetching your guests beer by having one of these units all filled up and ready to go. You'll be considered a wonderful host because you'll always be around to offer anything else and not just running around.

A beverage dispenser can actually give you the edge to make an extra profit. As well as greater profits, your customers at your restaurant or small business will enjoy having the access to one of these units. Anyone in a rush can serve themselves from one of these devices which allows you to finish other tasks at hand. By having multiple dispensers, people will be able to choose the drink to their liking.

Getting your own beverage dispenser is the perfect idea when serving guests. There is certainly no reason to not have one when you are in need of supplying ready to serve drinks at your next get together.

With all the different styles to choose from, you'll have no problem finding the right one for your needs. Weather it's for your business of home, just keep in mind what your needs are before you make your final selection.

What Kind Of Food Preserver Do You Like To Use

We have a FoodSaver that I really enjoy to use when it comes to preserving food that I know I would like to eat later. But when you do get a foodsaver see that it is the one that you would like to work and would be easy for you to handle. I'm not real impressed with the roll storage, not bad for occasional use, but not real handy for production use. Adjustable seal times can be helpful. As long as it has a manual seal, adjustable seal time, and handles 11" bag material, it will work. At least you can control the amount of time that you will need to seal your food or what kinds of food that you are sealing. It just depends on what you are sealing!

Now, if you can find one, there are other nice machine but some are expensive. I'm working on a custom mount for my foodsaver to minimize the problems associated with "high moisture" dishes. Oh, by the way, the newer models seem to have a deeper moisture trap, that's another feature to check out.So that when you do open your food it will have moisture. Some of the foodsavers don't have that kind of features. You might end up eatting something that is really dry.

My favorite TV show last evening, which is very well made and very thorough. I plan to use it for myself, at a single client location and for use by up to five of my Sunday afternoon culinary students to take their class projects home. Large department stores usually have a good price, including some of the top models. You can even go online to find vacuum bags and other accessories, I have found you can often get them cheaper there, even than large department stores.

Some of the department stores don't like to carry the vacuum bags because not to many use the foodsaver. A lot of people just like to use zipplock bags or other things that is just easy for them. They just want to take the time out to pull out the foodsaver and take the time go thourgh all the stuff after a long day of cooking and dealing with all the clean up mess. They would just like to clean and put away as fast as they can.

I have a FoodSaver and know that it'll smoosh the tar out of it if it's not partially frozen, yet when I put it in a rubbermaid, there is so much surface area exposed to air it worries me. I leave the meatloaf whole so it won't get crushed during the process.

When I do meatloaf, either leave it whole and double wrap it in heavy duty foil suggesting to the someone that they slice it cold prior to reheating or I make mini-loaves in muffin tins. They are the perfect single serving size for kids, require half the cooking time, and are easy to wrap and package individually.

Remember also, that not alot of people would like to freeze meals. I know that some people prefer it to be sliced up, and is packaged for two. I use the smaller container. For my families, I just wrap the whole thing and let them slice. I cut the loaves in half then proceed with packaging or make mini-loaves or in muffin tins for couples. Singles get them made in muffin tins.

As far as your vaccuum sealing issue. Does your vacuum sealer have an override button? Personally, I would only buy a sealer with an Override Button, this way you can seal to the point where all the air just disappears and then override the "sucking air out" and instantly seal the package. By having this feature you can also seal liquidy items like sauces and soups without worry. Then you know that you will not have to worry about going out and getting other things to hold liquidy things and that is much less money that you will need to spend.

I'm wondering how many of you leave your meals in containers and how many of you choose to vacuum seal the meals? Some people have never tried a vacuum sealer, but the reviews and information, sure make it sound like it's a perfect solution. When you decided to go one way or the other, what was the criteria that made you choose the method you did?

First, I use what I think might work for me or what others might want. About half want the vacuum seal bags. Second, some items always go into containers. Especially if I want them to retain their shape or I want them to warm in the oven for crispness: roasted potatoes, lasagna, breaded chicken. Some people don't offer the vacuum seal bags. Alot of other people just like staying with what they use all the time. It is just easyer for them to use and they would rather use what they know they can trust.

That being said, if a some people request for the vacuum bags, I would use them. I do take mine on occasion and some people do not complain when I package things that way (especially fish). In case you're wondering why others don't offer vacuum bags, I guess they just don't care to lug the machine and bags around. Giving all the other things that you would need to bring if you are going to cook at someones house it would just seam right to not have to carry more stuff then they really need too.

The vacuum sealer bags are often used for many items. However, things like soups or anything with a very watery sauce don't do well with the vacuum sealer bags. If presentation is an issue, I recommend putting it in the appropriate container and then sealing it. For example, there was one person who liked her food on the microwavable plates since she was single. I would plate the food and then use the FoodSaver. The biggest lesson I've learned with the FoodSaver, though, is to get the pre-made bags instead of the rolls. I get a better seal and it takes less time, although they are a bit more expensive.

Hanoi - A City That Lives Outdoors

Our journeys to the north all start from Hanoi and a holiday to Vietnam is not complete without a visit to this bustling and captivating city. We can organize a variety of city trips as add-ons to any package, according to your needs.

Situated in the heart of the Red River delta, Hanoi was chosen to as the capital of Vietnam in 1010. Three-lined boulevards, green open spaces and more than 15 lakes are the lungs of the city and enable her to breath. As soon as the first sunbeams chase the night away, locals gather around the foggy waters and take advantage of the cooler air to practice Tai Chi.

After noodle soup for breakfast, the streets slowly fill up with motorbikes and another working day begins. Street vendors and shoeshine boys roam the sidewalks and hairdressers bring their mirrors and chairs outside in lure for customers.

Colonial ochre coloured buildings; like the famous Opera House, give the city a French feel. Bakeries sell their fresh baked breads and pastries and coffee shops are found on every corner. A morning rickshaw ride through the 36 streets of the Old Quarter, resembling 36 guilds, offers quite a full image of Hanoi's rich cultural heritage.

Pagodas and temples are in abundance and the impressive Temple of Literature is a real historical highlight. There even is a neo-Gothic Cathedral to be found dating from 1886. The excellent Museum of Ethnology, a perfect preparation for any trek in the hills, is also not to be missed.

Afternoons are perfect for a stroll around town, art galleries boutiques and souvenir shops are found in great quantity and offer opportunities for a good bargain. When dusk falls, local food stalls open up and the bia hois (Beer gardens) fill up with locals and travelers alike. Hanoi boasts a variety of restaurants and bars making it the perfect destination for a night out.

Is Raw Milk Safe? Learn When it is Okay to Drink Unprocessed Milk

Have you read the articles lately about real milk and how healthy it is for you? Maybe you've heard conversations here and there and have been asking yourself, "Is raw milk safe to drink?" It can be confusing when you hear commercials on TV telling you how healthy milk from the grocery store is. But is it really? And just how can you know it is really okay to drink unpasteurized real fresh milk straight from the cow?

Well let me clarify one thing here. I don't generally drink the milk "straight from the cow" per se. I do bring it into the house, strain it through a filter, pour it into glass jars, and then quickly stash it in the freezer for a couple of hours to quickly bring the temperature down. The faster you can cool your milk the longer it will stay fresh. Anyway, you could technically drink it right out of the cow but that is not to my liking. Some people do though.

But I digress.

You simply want to be informed about how to know when and why this is safe. Okay, well there are a few things to look out for. First, you want to purchase your milk from someone who has a healthy cow (or cows). This will most likely be a small independent farmer. They will generally not mind at all if you tour their farm, visit the cows, and even watch them milk. Be sure to check that they milk under sanitary conditions and, as I mentioned, have some way to get the milk pretty cold pretty fast after milking.

If everything seems good so far, the next thing to ask is what they feed their cows. Best case scenario is totally grass fed or perhaps a small amount of grain. If they say they feed a mostly grain-based diet you should avoid buying milk from them. But you will not normally find this to be the case except at very large dairies simply because that is the most cost-effective way to do things. They want to push their cows to produce the most milk possible, and they can do that by feeding lots and lots of grain. So avoid this type of farm.

The raw milk will be perfectly healthy and safe for you to drink as long as you follow this criteria. Of course the best way to know this is to buy your own cow and commence to milking! But as long as you do your due diligence, you will be able to find some safe, healthy, and delicious fresh milk.

Fake 100% Pure Bird's Nest Are Flooding the Market

The majority of bird's nest retailers are unsure of what they are selling. Many retailers are unknowingly selling fake or chemically treated bird's nest to their customers. Some rogue retailers are knowingly selling fake or chemically treated products. The truth is, there are retailers in the market who simply do not care. They are profit driven and ignore any quality control requirements.

Consumption of chemically treated bird's nest can have adverse effects on personal health. Those particularly at risk are pregnant women, children and the elderly. The market is saturated with unscrupulous retailers. Under no circumstances should you assume that all retailers have the integrity, honesty and business ethics to provide customers with 100% genuine pure bird's nest. With the new and enhanced definition of what are 100% Pure Bird's Nest, all bird's nest available in the market is irrelevant.

Under the new and enhanced definition of 100% Pure Bird's Nest, the first and most critical criteria are to clean the bird's nest without any use of additives, preservatives, bleaching agents and any kind of chemicals. These criteria are difficult to achieve for most bird's nest farms, cave nests harvesters and cleaning plants, as most bird's nest available in the market involves at lease one of those impure substances mentioned above.

The next criteria are to ensure that impurities and bacteria in the bird's nest, which previously was unknown, due to insufficient laboratory test are removed. Upon successful elimination of impurities and bacteria, a light scent of egg can be smelt on the bird's nest (albumin odor). The light scent of an egg is created by the bird's nest in its earlier stage, where it is free from impurities and bacteria.

In a nutshell, 100% Pure Bird's Nest shouldn't present any unpleasant smell, other than the albumin odor at any stage of storage and preparation.

Fabulous and Affordable Family BBQ

Nothing says summer like a tasty BBQ with the kids. Finger-licking ribs, freshly made salads and slaws, tangy lemonade, and decadent desserts make a great meal at home, at the park, or at your favorite family barbecue restaurant. Summer is the time for NASCAR, Little League, and reunions. It also means that the kids are out of school and under your feet more often than not, making a trip to your favorite BBQ restaurant all that much more appealing.

BBQ can also be a healthy dinner for the whole gang. Fresh ingredients, cooked to order meats, and plenty of good conversation all make for a healthy dinner. Too often, eating dinner at home results in everyone sitting in front of the television. Eating out may be just what is needed to get back into the habit of good old-fashioned conversation. Kids and teens who talk and eat with their parents are far less likely to get into trouble elsewhere.

Why Go Out For Dinner?

After working in the house all day, many Mom's love the idea of a dinner out. This is especially true as the weather heats up. Adding to the day's heat and humidity by firing up the stove or oven won't make for a very comfortable night's sleep, either. Mosquitoes, humidity, and too many errands to run can make staying home for dinner the last thing in the world you feel like doing.

Cole slaw, potato salad, corn on the cob, cornbread, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable and dip platters, cheese and cracker platters, fresh fruit, green salads, chicken wings, and chicken tenders can round out any meal at most high quality family barbecue restaurants.

Lemonade and ice tea are the beverages of choice for any barbecue meal, and there are bound to be plenty of family dinner specials that will save you a pretty penny and still provide you with a tasty dessert. Fruit cobblers, brownies, and banana pudding are commonly found at your local BBQ restaurant.

Choosing The Right Restaurant

There are more restaurants in Florida than anyone could possibly count and plenty of them serve great tasting food at a reasonable price. The best advertising is word of mouth, so ask friends and neighbors where they like to go out for family dinner specials and good barbecue. Odds are there's an affordable barbecue restaurant right around the corner, ready to serve you up some lip smackin' good food and a great price.

Grilling and BBQ's - Not As Easy As it Looks

Grilling is one of those things that looks much easier than it is. Though women may reign supreme in the kitchen, men are the masters of the grill. Why is the grill so intimidating, but can be mastered by a man who cannot boil a pot of noodles? I have thought about this while avoiding the grill like the plague, leaving it for the token male in the house to use.

I have concluded that the thing that makes the grill such a challenge for women is the very thing that makes it ideally suited for a man. You have to ignore whatever is on it. I have decided that women cannot do this without a great deal of effort and several abortive breakdowns. Women, myself included, want everything to be perfect, so we check and double check everything in the kitchen. We are the reason that oven manufacturers put windows and lights in ovens, so that we could check to see if whatever is in there is done without having to open the door and drop the temperature. Grills have no windows, so we would constantly be checking on whatever was in there by opening the lid and flipping the contents repeatedly, allowing the heat and the moisture to drift away. This behavior would ensure that whatever we are trying to cook becomes something akin to a hockey puck by the time we are finished.

Men, on the other hand, are very seldom just cooking on the grill. They are usually doing something else at the same time, like talking, watching TV or laughing--sometimes at the women of the house running around in the kitchen I suspect. Eventually they open the lid, check it maybe once, and then flip it. After flipping, they proceed to ignore it some more while going back to whatever it is they were doing. After some indeterminate period of time, for which they have not consulted a clock or watch, they open the grill again. Sometimes they look at it and poke, then close the lid and say it will be done in a minute. Most of the time they poke and flip maybe one last time before picking the meat up and putting it on the plate. They have not used a thermometer. They have not cut it open to see if it is done. They just plate it and serve it, and somehow, magically, it is absolutely perfect.

Unless there is an undiscovered gene that gives men a built in timer for grilling, I really don't know how they do it. I have asked men I know, and they can't tell me either. I have also asked how they know the meat is done, only to be told that they know by feel. Supposedly their fathers taught them, yet I have yet to witness one of these father/son grill teaching sessions take place. I think they see my befuddlement and like it.

One day, I too may master the grill, when I am too old to get a man to do it. In the meantime, I can find friends and family to do it for me while I turn my hand to other culinary specialties. No one is the wiser and everyone ends up happy. Now here's hoping men don't manage to figure out how easy chocolate mousse is...

We all know the fastest way to get out of your house in a hurry is by grabbing a cup of coffee and maybe an apple It is fine to start your day with a hot cup of java but make sure you are eating more with it. Try sitting down with your coffee with a bowl of mixed fruit and a piece of toast with jam with an egg on the side.

Eggs are a great way to start off your morning and will keep you satisfied until lunch. Eating Soup Around the Fire

There are many benefits to eating soups at home. The most obvious benefit is that the soup will be homemade. What many people don't realize is that while there are still good and bad home cooks, it's more about what someone is used to eating. If you grow up eating certain ingredients, sauces, and marinades, you're going to continue to enjoy that type of cooking. Someone else might be known as a great cook, but you won't enjoy their food as much because it's different. The same thing goes for soup. For example, how could anyone make a better chicken noodle soup than your own mother or grandmother? The second benefit to eating soups at home is that you will be able to slurp your soup if you so choose. While this is considered rude, your family will still love you. If you were eating soup in a restaurant, you wouldn't have this option.

So what could make eating soups at home better than it is already? How about eating soup outside around a fire pit? Imagine a cool fall night with you and your immediate family surrounding the fire pit. You have a blanket draped over your knees and you're enjoying the cool autumn air. Stories about your childhood are told and reflected on with great enthusiasm. Only a fire pit could bring such joy to an outdoor snack or meal in cool weather. If you're at home - or visiting your parent's house - and the weather is chilly, why else would eat a meal outside? The only reason to venture out there is the fire pit.

It's also possible to cook soups on the fire pit. This can make the evening an even more adventurous experience. Imagine taking turns heating up your soup. This might be challenging at first, which should offer some good laughs. Once you do figure out the correct procedure, you should be able to cook almost any type of soup, including the most popular ones, such as mushroom soup, vegetable soup, and chicken noodle soup. And if you don't enjoy cooking and want to do as little work as possible, you can also cook Ramen Noodle Soup over the fire pit.

To make your fire-pit cooked soup night complete, consider roasting marshmallows for dessert. Roasting marshmallows puts everyone in a good mood, even family members you might not usually get along with. Regardless of whether you go for the marshmallows or not, if you're fire pit soup eating experience is a good one, be sure to let others in on the secret. The entire event has a natural and exciting aura to it.

Focus Vietnam

This is mostly down to a relaxation in Vietnams economic policies allowing the country to finally start realising its true potential. This combined with the popularity of Indochina amongst travellers in recent years means that Vietnam is a very exciting place to be right now.
You so rarely get to enjoy a country at its peak - either you are one of the early pioneers when facilities are poor and the locals are generally a little unsure about your presence; or you have missed the peak and the tourist trail is already well and truly trodden. Obviously both of these stages also have their advantages; however there is something very special about travelling in a country when it's riding high. Take a tour to Vietnam and you'll know exactly what we mean!

Many visitors are overwhelmed by the sublime beauty of the country's natural setting; the stunning hills, mountains and valleys to be explored in the north; the Mekong Delta in the south and the many hundreds of miles of deserted beaches that lie in-between. The majority of our itineraries allow you to travel the length of the country ensuring you get to enjoy all the amazing beaches, the patchwork of rice paddies to be seen mile after mile in all directions, and to enjoy the abundance of fresh seafood that plays such an important part in the popularity of Vietnamese cuisine - you think it tastes good back home, just wait until you taste the real thing!

Vietnam also has a lot to offer anyone who is looking to push themselves a little; with some great adventure tour itineraries....some of the finest in Asia. The north is any keen trekkers dream, The roads and trails that follow the original route of the infamous Ho Chi Minh trail and continue into the delta offer superb riding and the central highlands provides the perfect setting for kayaking and rock-climbing tour itineraries. You'll also get to meet and learn about the minority hill tribes that live in the areas you are exploring, through the use of our home stays (spending a night or two in a village home.)

Holiday and Adventure Tour Highlights

Hanoi's Old Quarter

Vietnam's capital city still retains its ancient legacies, no more so than in the congested Old Quarter. You can spend hours wandering the narrow streets of the old merchant traders.

What to Do During a Massage?

Many people worry needlessly. They can even worry about what to do during a massage.

Questions such as these often spring to mind:-

Will the massage hurt?
What if I fall to sleep.. and snore!
What if my stomach makes a noise... or if I pass wind?
How embarrassed they think they would be if any of these scenarios came to pass...

If you are going to a professional massage therapist for the first time, he or she will no doubt be aware that you may have concerns about what you should or not do during your treatment.

He or she would normally go through his massage procedures with you before the session starts so that you can relax and get the most out of your session.

However, so you can be prepared, here are my top 5 suggestions for what to do to get the maximum benefits from what is the most popular massage, a de-stress and relax treatment.

Before the treatment

Go to the toilet. Doing this saves you having concerns about you needing to relieve yourself once the massage starts

Get there in plenty of time. Imagine that your relaxing treatment starts the very moment you leave the house. That way you arrive calm and collected and will be able to go into the treatment room and maximise the relaxing effects of the massage.

Write things down. If you do have any concerns or health problems you feel you need to discuss with the therapist, then write them all down beforehand. It can be easy to forget what to say in the moment of being asked. Having things down on paper gives you the confidence that you will not forget anything. It also ensures that you get your questions asked and answered.
During the treatment

Make sure you are comfortable. You need to be able to relax during the massage and you cannot do this if you are uncomfortable. Change your position on the massage table if you want to. Scratch your nose if it is itchy. Ask to have the temperature of the room cooler or warmer if it is bothering you.. Do whatever you need to do in order to feel comfortable and relaxed. Your massage therapist would much rather you did these things than suffer in discomfort during his treatment.

Do not try to help. If you are having a full body massage the therapist will need to move your legs, feet, arms and hands during the session. Let him do that. Do not try to anticipate where you think he will want to place your limbs because when you do this, you actually stimulate muscular tension. Imagine you are a droopy noodle, lank and limp. Allow the therapist to get hold of you and place your limbs where he wants to. And just enjoy how that makes you feel.
After you have experienced your treatment and the problems about what to do during a massage have been dealt with, you will then be able to fully understand what being relaxed - deeply relaxed - really feels like.
